I first met Lois Jane Neal when I was around 11 years old at a singing convention in Big Stone Gap Virginia. Our family went every year but this was the year that sticks most in my memory. I came from a Christian family who attended a Primitive Baptist Church. I think I was most impressed by Lois because of her youth, her voice, and enthusiasm for the Lord. I had the vague idea that church was for old folks with nothing left to live for. It left a real impression on me that a beautiful young woman would devote her life to the Lord. My dad bought her album and the whole family learned and sang the songs on it. My older sister learned to play the guitar, majored in music in college, and is now in a gospel group of her own called The Master's Harmony.
I became a Christian two years after hearing Lois at the singing convention and I must say that she played a BIG part in bringing that about. I was SO pleased to find this website and see that she is still actively serving the Lord and has affected many other lives for the good. Back in those days they introduced her as "The little girl with a BIG voice."
