A Christmas Prayer
from Max Lucado
Dear Jesus,
It’s a good thing you were born at night. This world sure seems dark. I have a good eye for silver linings. But they seem dimmer lately.
These killings, Lord. These children, Lord. Innocence violated. Raw evil demonstrated.
The whole world seems on edge. Trigger-happy. Ticked off. We hear threats of chemical weapons and nuclear bombs. Are we one button-push away from…

There’s something in you that God loves! Not just appreciates or approves—but loves. You cause God’s eyes to widen, his heart to beat faster. He loves you and accepts you.
Don’t we yearn to know this? God, do you know who I am? In the great scheme of things do I count for anything? So many messages tell us we don’t. We get laid off at work, turned away by the school. Everything from acne to Alzheimer’s leaves us feeling like the girl with no date to the prom. We react. We validate…

Does your affliction seem more real than God? Does the black sorrow that covers you eclipse all the light of heaven and earth? Remember...He has said,
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you" (Isa. 43:2).
Depend on it; He will sustain you...Be of good courage. The Lord will strengthen your heart.
(Charles H. Spurgeon)

Don't dwell on the prayers you've prayed that seemingly haven't been answered. Dwell on those you have seen answered. Don't dwell on things that God hasn't given you. Instead, thank Him for all He has given you.
"...Be ye thankful."((Col.3:15)

"You never saw him, yet you love him. You still don’t see him, yet you trust him—with laughter and singing. Because you kept on believing, you’ll get what you’re looking forward to: total salvation." (1Peter1:8)

and names each one.
Our Lord is great and very powerful.
There is no limit to what he knows."(Ps. 147:4-5)

I'm thankful for this...
"God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart."

"Do not let your hearts be troubled...Trust in God..."
(John 14:1)
Believe that God will complete the good work He began in you. Don't dwell on past failures. He can turn downfalls into testimonies. Share with others how you stumbled and now have been lifted up to a higher plane of life with God. Your enemy has nothing good to say about you. Don't repeat his lies. Believe God's promises and believe in Him. See Him with open arms and an open heart of love and forgiveness.

Yesterday I said one last goodbye to a loved one here below
Had to wipe a sad tear from my eye, as I had to let them go
Well they’re headed home with a wave and a smile

Brokenness is God’s way of moving you into a new identity and a new life. Because God is the Healer of the broken, you can trust Him to put you back together when you’ll never be able to put yourself together on your own. (Robin Dugall)

God has made a way for us that leads far beyond disappointment. God has big plans for us — things to do, people to see, places to go…
Christ promises us that, beyond disappointment, something better awaits us. Some mission God designed just for us, custom tailored — something that takes us not on a road to nowhere but to a place where we can feed others just as He has fed us. “Go,” He told his disciples in Matthew 28:16–20. Go into all the world. Keep going past disappointment. Go and…

A crushing hurt comes to our heart and the sympathizing, scarred hand of Christ presses the wound; and just for a moment, the pain seems to intensify,...but finally the bleeding stops. (Beth Moore)

God's peace can always be with you, regardless of your circumstances. As the wind signals an upcoming storm, you can know for certain that God is there with you.
Storms will draw you closer to Him as you seek shelter, or it can drive you away as the rain of discouragement causes a downpour on your faith.
Think of the storms as a time to feel His presence and give you an inner calmness. Hope in God will keep you buoyed in the rough seas. Nothing can overcome you that He can't stop.…

God knows about your dilemma and sees your circumstances. There are opportunities along with the obstacles. Each situation is either a stepping stone or a stumbling block.
Move up to another realm of spiritual awareness. Allow your ears to become attentive and your eyes more alert to the circumstances you face each day.
You may panic for a moment, but allow God's peace to enter and endure. Your biggest and longest struggle is hardly a fleeting moment compared to the life of eternity…

Do not be afraid of things to come. God will be there to help you with your struggles and to lift your burdens. Let Him take your worries and cares. Release each one to Him and stand tall with a new sense of hope and belief. Believe in His Word. Remember His promises. Read them out loud as a reminder to you about what He can do. When it seems impossible, that is when all things are possible for those who abide in Him.
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares about you."(1 Peter…

You need to accept God’s Word as your authority. Why? Because it is the only source that will never lie to you. If you’re going to be a man or woman of courage, you need to build your life on the rock that never changes, not on popular opinion. Build your life on the understanding that “God said it, I believe it, and that settles it — whether I understand it or not.” Hebrews 6:18 says, “God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for…

"...In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I've conquered the world." (John 16:33)
God’s faithfulness doesn’t guarantee an easy journey through life. In fact, He promises exactly the opposite: He promises that in this life we will have trials and tribulations, hardship and pain. Yet He who is sovereign and wise and loving and good also promises that the tough times aren’t wasted. (Sheila Walsh)
"We know that in all things God works for good…
